Artech, as a minority-owned diversity supplier, is a long-standing member of the NMSDC. Artech frequently attends meetings and events for the NMSDC and its local chapters, primarily the NY-NJ MSDC, also known as The Council.
Providing a direct link between corporate America and minority-owned businesses is the primary objective of the NMSDC, one of the country's leading business membership organizations. It was chartered in 1972 to provide increased procurement and business opportunities for minority businesses of all sizes.

Artech Wins the 2009 NMSDC National Supplier of the Year Award!
Artech is simply overjoyed about winning the 2009 NMSDC National Supplier of the Year award. The award was presented to Artech president, Ranjini Poddar, at the NMSDC Conference and Business Fair Awards Banquet in New Orleans, October 28, 2009.
"This is the biggest honor a minority-owned business can receive," said Ms. Poddar. "We have to thank the NMSDC and their local chapter, The Council, for their support. Throughout the years, they have really helped us gain visibility with many large corporations that have become our clients."
Artech had won the Local and Regional Supplier of the Year awards in the Class IV category, representing minority businesses with annual sales greater than $50 million.
"During a challenging economy, major corporations have counted on excellent minority suppliers like Artech to deliver great products, cost savings, quality service and innovative solutions," said NMSDC president, Harriet Michel.
Artech is proud to state that it has been a member of the NMSDC's exclusive Corporate Plus program since 2007. The program recognizes Artech's capabilities to support national contracts for large clients. Artech is sponsored by IBM for this membership and is one of only 90 MBEs across the US that has attained NMSDC Corporate Plus status. Click here to view Artech's Corporate Plus Sponsorship Letter.
Partnership Awards Gala
Artech was recognized at the 2009 NY-NJ MSDC Partnership Awards Gala for winning the Local and Regional Supplier of the Year awards. Conversely, Artech had served as the Co-MBE Chair for the Partnership Awards Gala held at the Marriott Marquis in New York City, November 14, 2008. The event provided Artech with extensive visibility among many large corporations and peer MBEs. The black-tie gala is one of the most glamorous and well-attended events in the diversity community.
The Council's AIM Program
For years Artech has been informally mentoring MBEs. Formal consultations began with the VIP program and Artech's partnership with government entities and large government contractors. In 2008, Artech had the pleasure of participating in The Council's AIM (Ask Impressive MBE) program, whereby Artech was chosen by an MBE generating less than $5 million in revenue. The smaller MBE spent the day with Artech's executive management to discuss marketing, including a lengthy discussion on the benefits of partnering with the NMSDC and its local chapters, chain supply management, and opportunities for their company's products. The Artech team felt the one-day affair with the promising MBE was a tremendous success and plans to participate in the program again.
The Council's Annual Meeting provides insights into the state of the MBE environment, including economic data, pending legislation, strategies, and so forth. The 2009 MBE Annual Meeting at the Bank of NY Mellon served as an interesting, educational and inspiring event that provided terrific insight into the state of minority businesses.
